Hi! I'm Payton! I'm a multi-disciplinary theater artist.
I'm most interested in creating visual landscapes on stage based in the power of the finite, the dreamlike, and the inexpressible through language alone.
In this practice, I want work I make and the work I support to build environments that challenge how we tune in, how we react, how we are here.
I love to build performance from lots of sides. I direct, devise, dance, act, build puppets, and stage manage.
I've worked professionally in all these capacities in New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, and Santa Fe.
I grew up in New Orleans, attended New Orleans Center for Creative Arts graduating in the Drama Department and the first class of the Academic Studio. I was proudly awarded a full scholarship through the Posse Foundation to complete a BA in Theater and Performance from Bard College. I also attended the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center’s National Theater Institute Semester Intensive.
I am also the Private Events Manager for Abington Art Center and a freelance event planner.
